Biography

Michael Green has been working in the field of cryogenics and superconductivity since 1965. Michael received BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1962 and 1964, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1977.  He worked at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory from 1964 to 2011. He has written over ninety papers in the field of cryogenics and many more in the applications of cryogenics and superconductivity in the field of particle physics, and other fields as well. He has served on the board of the Applied Superconductivity Conference since 1984, and the United States ICMC board from 1997 to 2001. He has served on the board of the IEEE Council of Applied Superconductivity since its inception. He chaired the 1998 Applied Superconductivity Conference, co-chaired the 2007 Magnet Technology Conference, and served as program chair of ICMC in 1999. He has been an IEEE editor for many years.
