Biography

Michael Green has been working in the field of cryogenics and superconductivity since 1965. Michael Green received BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1962 and 1964. He received his Doctor of Engineering from UC Berkeley in Mechanical Engineering in 1977.  He worked at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory from 1964 to 2011. He is currently working as a consultant at FRIB at Michigan State University.  He has written over ninety papers in the field of cryogenics and many more papers in the applications of cryogenics and superconductivity in the field of particle physics.  He has published papers in other fields as well.  He has served on the board of the Applied Superconductivity Conference since 1984.  He served on the United States ICMC board from 1997 to 2001.  He served on the board of the IEEE Council of Applied Superconductivity since its inception.  He chaired the 1998 Applied Superconductivity Conference in Palm Desert.  He was co-chair of the 2007 Magnet Technology Conference in Philadelphia.  He was the program chair of ICMC in Montreal in 1999.  He has been an IEEE editor for many years.
