Biography

Dr. Sasha Ishmael is a scientist at Lupine Materials and Technology, Inc. (LMT). In 2017 she became the principal investigator of a DOE phase II grant “Optical fiber integration into Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oz/Ag/Agx and (RE)Ba2Cu3Ox superconducting coils” and is the project lead on other contracts.

She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, FL. She pursued her postdoctoral research in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC. Prior to her postdoctoral work, she had seven years of experience in industry. In her prior industry experience she worked on magnet design and measurements of superconducting and resistive magnets for customers in a variety of application areas including medical, high-energy physics, and research for electrical power generation & distribution. She holds patents in the areas of electrical power systems and medical devices.

In addition to her Council ExCom roles, Sasha currently serves as the Student Support Chair, and the Diversity & Inclusion Vice-Chair.
