Biography

Steven Anlage received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from California Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Center for Nanophysics and Advanced Materials, at UMD, where he leads experimental research activities in superconducting metamaterials, quantum chaos, and various types of quantitative high-resolution near-field microscopy. His research focus is on the basic physics of superconducting materials (both natural and artificial) and addressing fundamental questions concerning wave propagation in complex scattering systems. He is also active in developing applications that exploit time-reversal invariance and spatial reciprocity for electromagnetic wave propagation, such as directed communication and wireless power transfer.
